Conway Bank Mission Statement:
Conway Bank is committed to maintaining a business with long term financial stability that provides quality financial products/services to our customers through long-term mutually beneficial relationships built on integrity and a genuine concern for the financial well-being of our customers. Conway Bank Our bank dates back to the year 1886 and was originally established under the name of Citizens State Bank. Not long after, in 1907 we received our first national charter and renamed the bank to "The First National Bank". At that time, the bank was owned by; Dr. Farris, Mr. Lane, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Davis, Mr. Baird, and Mr. Armstrong. In 1925 Joe Gooch bought the majority shares in the bank and became President serving in that capacity until his death in 1941. E.J. Frantz who had previously purchased the major portion of Mr. Lane's stock was elected president in 1942 after the death of Joe Gooch and served in that position until 1966. During 1950 while E.J. Frantz was President he hired a new teller by the name of Lawrence Bennett who had recently come home from serving in the Navy in WWII. Lawrence worked in various positions over the years until becoming E.J. Frantz successor when he was elected President and CEO of the bank in 1966. In 1988 Lawrence decided it was time to retire and sold 1st National Bank to James Heiman of Wichita and Robert Wall of Conway Springs. And to this day, although no longer participating in the day to day operation, Lawrence still plays an active role in the bank by serving on the board of directors. Later, after settling into their new banking roles, Mr. Heiman and Mr. Wall decided that expanding into other geographic locations would be the perfect way to grow the banks assets. They purchased what is now known as our Norwich branch. Our third branch to open was in downtown Wichita at the corner of Main and East Kellogg. This branch is considered our leading commercial branch due to its proximity to the business district of Wichita. It was about that time they decided to rename the bank and incorporated under the current name, "Conway Bank". Our last venture was our East Wichita branch that was purchased at the corner of Greenwich and Central in 2002. As you can see, Conway Bank has a strong history of serving the financial needs of several communities and has played a vital role that expands more than one hundred (100) years. We have gone from the once modest assets in 1904 of $154,436.00 to over $110 million today. And, even though we continue to look for new avenues of growth and new markets to serve, we are and always will be your hometown bank with customized services designed to fit your needs. Conway Bank sincerely wants to be, Your Way to Bank. |
